Salient Features

• Qualified and experienced faculty with PG / PhD degree, more than 25 years’ experience.
• Regular interaction with textile industries and academic institutes in relation to examination, paper setting, paper evaluation, and conducting guest lectures.
• Topic-wise industrial visits are organised, including live practicals in industry.
• For hands-on experience and to develop competencies, 16 weeks in-plant training is compulsory for Textile students.
• Well-equipped workshop and laboratories.
• More emphasis is given to imparting technical skills and soft skills through academic as well as non-academic activities.
• Faculty of the department work on consultancy projects and research projects assigned by various departments of the Government of Maharashtra, such as Integrated Tribal Development Programme (ITDP), Mahila Aarthik Vikas Mahamandal, Nagpur, and the Textile Commissioner’s Office, Nagpur, as resource persons cum consultants for collaborative and technical assignments.
• The department has revised the Textile Curriculum based on the New Education Policy (NEP 2020) and the AICTE model curriculum.
• The department is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA).
• For the further development and enhancement of facilities in the department, 5 MOUs have been signed with different industries, the Government of India, and the Government of Maharashtra. These MOUs enhance liaison with government departments and help develop students’ skills and competency.
• Textile Students Association - a forum for Textile students for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
