About the Department


Department of Mechanical Engineering is established in 1914 with intake of 60 students. The department is enriched with highly qualified and well experienced faculties ready to take challenges of mentoring the future Diploma Engineers, who are fit to take any challenges in the field. Regular industrial visits, Industrial training, interaction with field experts along with participation in various curricular events is facilitated by the staff of the department in the interest of students for the better grooming and overall development of the students. The department is running in two shifts with intake of 60 each, taking total capacity to 120. The second shift started functioning from year 2010 with an intake capacity of 60 students. This department was accredited by National Board of Accreditation in 2003 for the period of 5 years, 2008 for the period of 3 years & in 2019 for the period of 3 years i.e. upto 30-06-2022. For overall development of the students, the department is associated with following Professional societies chapters -

  1. Institution of Engineers (India) Student Chapter [IE (I)].
  2. Indian Society for Technical Education Student Chapter (ISTE).
  3. Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA).

Department has highly qualified & motivated staff. Besides academic, department motivates the students for overall development. The department is awarded with A grade by External Academic Monitoring, MSBTE, Mumbai. Currently department is having intake capacity of 120 students.

Program Outcomes (PO's)

1. Basic and Discipline specific knowledge: Apply knowledge of basic mathematics, science and engineering fundamentals and engineering specialization to solve the engineering problems.

2. Problem analysis: Identify and analyze well-defined engineering problems using codified standard methods.

3. Design / development of solutions: Design solutions for well-defined technical problems and assist with the design of systems components or processes to meet specified needs.

4. Engineering Tools, Experimentation and Testing: Apply modern engineering tools and appropriate technique to conduct standard tests and measurements.

5. Engineering practices for society, sustainability and environment: Apply appropriate technology in context of society, sustainability, environment and ethical practices.

6. Project Management: Use engineering management principles individually, as a team member or a leader to manage projects and effectively communicate about well-defined engineering activities.

7. Life-long learning: Ability to analyse individual needs and engage in updating in the context of technological changes.
